Community Liaison

Project goal

To ensure consumer/community input into the activities of the division.

Introduction

Community liaison is about recognising that consumers and GPs gain many benefits from working together to identify areas for improvement in the services they receive or provide. The GP provides a service to their patient so it makes sense to ensure that the needs of patients are actually being met. To do this a relationship needs to be established that allows for communication to happen between the community and GPs.

The project seeks to bring GPs and consumers together by involving the community in planning the activities of the division and providing feedback about the health services they receive. By consulting consumers, they are able to have their say about what works best when they receive services from GPs and other health providers.

The division recognisese that communities are integral to the identification and understanding of health care issues and, as such can provide valuable direction and feedback into the activities of the division.
