Spike visits Ocean Shores |
Spike was a huge hit with a smiley 19 month old Conor Reimer from Mullumbimby.
Spike and his team of helpers took a trip to Ocean Shores at the end of August to promote the benefits of immunisation in an area that has a lower immunisation rate than average.
It was a rainy day, so the shopping centre in Ocean Shores was quite busy and the division’s immunisation project officer Rachelle Deaker and PHU immunisation public health nurse, Marianne Trent, were able to discuss a range of immunisation issues with parents, as well as talk about the recently released HPV vaccine, Gardasil.
Spike and his helpers gave out lots of helium filled Spike balloons, stickers and ‘Spot the Difference’ Spike colouring in drawings, as well as information leaflets and other resources to parents. If you would like some of the division’s immunisation resources for your practice, please contact Rachelle on 6622 4453. The Spot the Difference drawings are always a big hit and can also be downloaded from www.nrdgp.org.au.
